The Different Types Of Church Outreach

By Francis Riggs

God gave us the mandate of spreading his Word when he placed us on earth. It is our duty as Christians to ensure that we let other people know about the word. Churches have always been conducting outreaches as ways of reaching out to people. There are many types of outreaches, and so we will discuss church outreach and its types.

All churches need an outreach program for preaching the word of God. No one church can do all the outreaches by itself. Instead, God blessed us with different gifts that we can excel in as we spread ahs word. There are two broad categories of outreaches that are essential and optional.

Essential outreaches refer to those that we must carry out. There are some that are stated clearly in the Bible that we ought to carry out. Direct evangelism is among these essential ones. We can minister directly to people when we met them or go to them directly. The Bible tells us to tell other people about God and his love for us.

World missions are also essential. It is not just enough to tell your neighbors and friends about Jesus, you should reach out to others far away. The Bible says that each church should reach out to people about of the local community.

The poor and the needy are always despised in our society. As Christians, we should not be among those who despise them rather we should preach to them. When Jesus was describing the kingdom of God to his followers, he told them that helping the least of their brothers is important. Not helping the needy in clothing them, given them shelter and food, could make them miss heaven. When he talked about the least of our brothers, he meant those who are needy.

Children are susceptible to a lot of damages, especially at their young age. The current generation parents are not wary of what their children do or if the go to church. This makes them as easy prey for the enemy who turn their lives into sin. Jesus said to his disciples that the children belong to heaven and that they should be allowed to go to him. We, therefore, need to minister to them.

The outreaches mentioned above are essential. Out of them, other ministries have been born including prison ministry. People in prison ought to know that God loves and cares for them. They need to feel the love of God, and his forgiveness since God forgives sin. The disabled and people in the military should also get to know about Jesus. The love of God is abundant, and his mercies never fail us, this is what we ought to preach.

Our youths have always been a target of the enemy. They easily fall into sin since they are at their active stage. We need to salvage them from such situation by instilling the word of God in them. By letting they know that God is in charge of their destiny they will gladly surrender their lives to him so that they can live fulfilling lives. Lastly, let us keep in mind that we are mandated to spread the word. God is faithful, loving and forgiving; that is the message that everyone needs to hear.
